Hello everyone,
I’m Patrik Berger and I am running for the position of International Student Officer. I am from Czech Republic and I study Tourism and Event Management and I love travelling and discovering new countries and cultures.
I am currently class representative of my class and I was running this role for four years in my previous school as well. I would like to use all my experience to be a strong voice for international students in our collgege and advocate for them in all matters.
Being international student myself I am very much aware of how much daunting can moving to a new country and new univeristy be. Therefore I would like to be of help to anyone who struggles with making new connections in new environment, orienting in all necessary paperwork and new culture. I would like to use my personal experience and experience of all my friends from across the world I met here to make it easier for all incoming and current international students and help them to make here in Ireland their new home.
Apart from helping international students, I would like to connect them with Irish people to bridge the cultural boundaries since I believe that we all have a lot to learn from each other.
This is what I would like to do if I’m elected
- Welcome incoming international students and help them enjoy their time here
- Help them with essential paper work
- Organise trips to help people to make new friends
- Support students moving abroad for ERASMUS and work placements
- Help to bridge cultural barriers
